@ Tracy - I agree. John had a very interesting perspective. It's easy to follow a script. Most people have this image of what they think will attract people. When people just want to get to know you.

@ cookie - I'm glad the 'more you and less I' advice is working for you.

@ alex - I love your views! I asked for them after all didn't I? :)

You hit the mark with your observation. Interesting is anything that makes you feel an emotion.

For that to happen you have to feel an emotion while writing too. Which is where your enthusiasm post comes in.

You've given us lots to think about!

Hey Samar!!

i think starliteve's points are good ones. but they're pretty go-figure. it's like the basics. the starting point. it'll get your blog/business/you some attention but it won't make you truly INTERESTING. Interesting is different in the attractive sense. what starliteve is talking about is just a high standard of quality. that will probably make it interesting since such quality isn't common; but those things don't make it strictly intereting. interestingly enough :p

Really like John Hoff's reply. not necessarily as an idea but for the way the idea sounds. sounds so prophetic and wise. and it's kinda a good idea :P

i guess for me, having spent a lot of time focused on social dynamics and how to be interesting; i think that you can be interesting to anybody... because everybody has sometihng in common with you. you're alive.

when you're talking to them, get excited (wrote a whole post about this recently). and look into their eyes. and connect to your humanity.

and that applies to something like blogging or business; but is more difficult to convey. in real life, there's that energy, that tangible yet indescribable energy that you can pick up. somebody's vibe. you know whether you like somebody, or are attracted to them within moments.

on that tack there are certain design things that you can do to make a blog interesting.

there are cool ways to play with images and titles too.

but the more i think about it; the more i'm left at the idea that interesting things make you feel an emotion.

if you don't feel an emotion about it; it's not interesting.

come to think about it; that's why i disagree with starliteve's points as a strict guide to being interesting. because you can do all those but still be bland.

interesting things make you feel an emotion. either in the way they're said or what is being said.

wow. reply almost as long as a blog post. glorious :)
...hey, you wanted my opinion, you shoulda known what you were getting yourself into ;)

keep well samary dearest :)

Ha! I love what John said, it's so true. Everyone is interesting to somebody, you just have to find them.

The most interesting people to me are the ones who are truly themselves. It's not easy to be interested in a script.

@ Ahsan - Thanks! Once you start following a blog for reason #1 do you feel you want to find out more about the person behind the voice?

@ John - Hehe, the first time you said it, you had me stumped :P But yes, thinking that way takes off half the pressure of the 'Will they like me/find me interesting?' problem.

Kind of goes with what I said on your first post of this series.

You need to find the right people to be interesting to. Then, you'll be interesting to them :)
