Major changes ahead!

There’s really no excuse for disappearing off like this. There is however, a reason. [Hint: Look at the picture.]

I hope you’ve figured it out by now. The hand made card isn’t the most accurate but if you look closely… :) I take my words back. Everybody guessed right :)

Ever since I found out – and I found out relatively early , I’ve been waking up everyday praying I wouldn’t be sick and working as much as I can, wrapping up work for clients, not taking on anymore work than my current levels of sleep and energy permit.

I still haven’t figured out the etiquette for this. As a freelancer, who do I need to tell? Do I even need to tell my clients? The ones I’m letting go of or the one’s I’ll continue working with or both? Also, if I take on new clients, will they need to be told?

You can tell its my first time can’t you? If you’ve got advice, I’m all ears!

The Base will be quiet a little while longer till I work out the details and get back to a posting schedule. Till then I’ll  be aiming at once a week updates.

Don’t worry, the blog’s theme will not change. It’s still going to be about blogging, freelancing, social networking and whatever falls in between.

Oh and if you’d like to see this place updated more than once a week then I’m open to guest posts. Anyone up for it?

When are you due?

And since you’ve posted this on your blog, I think your clients all know now….

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! I’m doing a happy dance for you!

@ Kashif – Lol, something like that.

@ Mel – Thank you! Life as I know it changes for me sometime in late March :) When posting this I was thinking more of the people who read this blog than my clients, but you’re right. They’ll know through this.

I’m hoping they’ll understand my “Do I tell them or not” dilemma through this post :)

Congratulations! What an exciting adventure for you :)

As for who do you tell and what do you say? Hmm.

Clients: need to know if life changes will affect your ability to fulfill your contracts. If you must let go of a client or two or three – consider recommending another blogger/writer for them to go to. Yes, my name can be used here :)

Seriously.

Tell the clients within a few months, offering them a list of people you think can do the work. This way reduces the surprise factor – something clients simply don’t tolerate well. Its the professional thing to do.

Yes, my name can be used. *VBG*

Congratulations Samar :)

Congrats! :)

So inshallah it will be dinner with Hubby and Kiddo then :D

Congratulations! That is so awesome. I have a 1 and 3 year old, so I suppose you could say I’m still a relatively new dad.

Just remember, you’re not going to get much sleep after the baby is born for about 3 months. After that, they start sleeping all through the night. Just be prepared.

@ Magnus, Tony & Eros – Thank you! :)

@ Cookie Monster – You keep talking about this dinner but when are you coming to Dubai?

@ John – Thank you John! Also for the heads up about the sleeping habits of newborns. Guess I’ll be giving myself maternity leave after the delivery.

But if they wake up at night does that mean babies sleep during the day?

In our experience, they take a couple naps during the day, but they’re long naps.

One thing we also did was buy a little baby stuffed elephant which played a song when you pulled the cord. We put that on my wife’s stomach each night and played it for the baby.

After he was born, we used that elephant and played the song for him. It seemed to calm him down because he recognized it.

Also, consider taking naps when they do, otherwise, you’ll get no sleep yourself. lol

“But if they wake up at night does that mean babies sleep during the day?”

Sounds like a freelancer. Should be no issue for you ;)

*coughs* my daughter woke up for 3-4 hourly feeds every night until just before she turned two. Every child is different, yours may sleep through the night from six weeks onwards or may way for feeds for the next few years. They’re all individual.
Melinda | WAHM Biz Builder´s last blog ..Planning Your Posts My ComLuv Profile

@ John – Thanks John, that’s great advice! I was thinking of catching up on chores while the baby slept during the day but you may have a point about sleeping when they do.

@ Marc – Lol! I hope so. But seeing as how I’ve been spared from morning sickness, I’m hoping my child will continue to be as considerate :P

@ Mel – Wow. Guess the best thing to do is wait and see. I just wish we could sleep a lot right now and store it all up for when the baby comes so that we wouldn’t be tired and devoid of sleep all the time post birth.

The picture said, Back to school! for me too. ‘course, I have 4 kids, so I’m kinda sorta slanted in that direction….

Any questions you have regarding sleeping thru the night, breastfeeding, whatever…I must have gone thru everything imaginable under the sun.

Regarding sleep….remember, nobody went to college with the inability to sleep thru the night. :) Same thing with toilet training…. :)

Wow. Take very good care of your wonderful gift. I suggest you get a book about “Baby’s first year.” It should contain all the information from the first month to the 12th month. It’s very convenient when you are searching for answers in emergency situations.

Put much time on her, that way you’ll discover the nuances of her cryings. Also give her all the needed vaccinations, it will benefit her a lot. :-)

@ Barbara – 4 kids! That’s awesome! I’m looking at my mom in a whole new light these days. She gave birth to 4 kids too. I’m freaking out with my first! :P

@ Walter – Thanks for the advice! I’ll definitely be doing that.

Samar! Congratulations :D

It’s not a bad idea for you as it gets you noticed, but as for seo it doesn’t do much for the second blog owners rankings, still that’s his choice.

Guest bloggers will come only for some good blogs. Automatically posting articles means you want to post from some rss feeds? That’s a bad thing.
