Just tell them that that's how you speak, hence, that's how you write :) @ John - Ah, the only pet I've ever had were parrots. Not the speaking kind. The smaller, more colorful ones. Must have something to do with living in apartments that don't allow four legged pets. @ cookie - Lol! Dare I say poor you? I was never good at finance. Totally with you on writing down the answers. This week I learnt about Cube analysis, Fund performance forecasting, learnt about the business structure of a large insurance company, and learnt that people ask you the same question for 9 weeks in a row because they dont write the answer down in the first place! :)

What a terrific question! Because I am in information professional, I am asked to locate specifics about every topic imaginable. Just recently I signed on with two clients - one is a motivational speaker/writer and the other is the CEO of a home health care training company. I've learned about martial arts books out-of-print and how Japanese and Chinese martial arts are very different. I've learned that bio-remediation (taking skanky water and making it potable) is an up and coming science that will soon make an impact on our world. Oh my, I've learned many things - one reason I am an information professional is because I have an insatiable curiosity about the world and my clients provide me projects that keep me learning. As for writing? Well, all that I learn can only help my writing. Now to get it less formal :) I tend to write like I speak and I've been told that both are too formal. Oh, and I could use a puppy, too! Shhh, don't tell hubby...I miss having a dog around the house.

Sounds like somebody needs a puppy!

@ John - I'm extremely intrigued by the type of writing you do. Writing for textbooks would put so much pressure on me. The weight of the education of thousands of kids... I love getting business related projects. They just make so much sense to me. @ Writer Dad - Hehe, I don't particularly enjoy about writing dogs and their collars but its information. I totally agree. One of my favorite things about freelancing is that I learn all these little things that my someday characters in my someday novels will know. I may not like writing about lawnmowers, but someday I'll be writing a character that needs to know that information. : > ) <abbr>Writer Dad’s last blog post..How to Easily Keep Your Family Connected in 20 Minutes a Day</abbr>

Learning is one of the things I love about my writing field. I've recently worked on a booklet on how to lessen your environmental impact for an environmental science textbook, and I've also worked with on PowerPoint presentations for an atmospheric science textbook. But I especially love the history projects.
