Overdosing on Copyblogger

My vacation meant that my Google Reader had more than 1000 items collected for my reading, uhh… pleasure. I’m only just beginning to catch up on all my favourite blogs. It doesn’t help of course that they post so regularly!

This week, I’ll be linking to Copyblogger’s posts that I read word for word after coming back.

Those are five posts I’ve read every word of. Now if I can just use the information in them practically to become a better writer and blogger. That’s the toughest part. There’s so much information at the tip of our fingers that we leave the advice we just read in favour of reading some more.

I’ve rarely been able to put what I’ve learned into practice. Is it the same with you guys? Or am I the only failure?

Samar,

That is usually the hardest thing for me to do. There is so much good information out there. I usually save the page for when I know I will run into a problem but then usually forget that it is saved, or I take notes on a topic only to forget where I put the notes when I need them.

Taking the information in the first time is always good, but I know that I am not getting the full potential of the article unless I read through it again and again when I need it.

I'm always glad to see a courageous post. We're in culture of doing more, learning more, faster, better, self-improvement, better habits….ironically, in my experience, when we can completely accept who we have become, and stay present, life finds its flow, and then it all happens without effort or discipline or angst.

Thanks!

@ Sal – I'm right there with you! My bookmarks and twitter favourites are filled with links I want to read again – yet when I want that information, I can never remember where I saved it.

I'm an even bigger sucker for e-books. If anyone's offering an e-book, i'll download it. I have an business e-books folder filled with books I haven't read.

@ Kaushik – I need to find that flow. Right now it feels like I'm climbing one learning curve after the other. It's an exciting and exhilarating ride but sometime I just want to be perfect and be a kickass freelance writer, copywriter and blogger y'know?

I'm heading over to your blog to see how I can find my zen a little faster :-)
